Great American Weekend

Today myself, Nikki, Amber and Nicole went to the Great American Weekend in Goshen, NY. I wasn’t expecting much because lately the festivals have been a bit well… boring. All they seem to be nowadays is a reason to hand out silly pamphlets that you just use to fan yourself when you get too hot. Not to mention you are then left with walking around with 10 bags that all have to do with medical/life insurance.

Today, however, was great. There were tons of vendors that were selling things I would actually buy, if I wasn’t broke :), and there was music and great smelling food. The weather was quite warm but there was a nice breeze every once in a while. Goshen is also home to a harness racetrack. Anyone that knows me knows that I LOVE horses. I have been riding since I was 7 and if I could live on a farm with horses for the rest of my life I would.
Next to the Harness track is a Harness museum, today it was free! We all took solace in the air conditioned building, but soon found ourselves interested in all the pictures and facts. Okay maybe not so much interested as making fun of the silly statues and pictures but that’s what best friends are for right?
We made our way up to the second floor where there was a 3D movie of an actual race. We were all down for trying it and hopped into our seats with our hideous  very stylish glasses on. The woman immediately announced that the bars were going to be coming down and would lock in place. If you could have heard Nikki! She had no idea where the bar was coming from so she was frantic…. I giggled. WELL…this dang movie started and me and Nikki lost it. I haven’t laughed that hard in a really long time, to the point where both of our stomach’s hurt. I think we were the only ones laughing. I will try to clue you in but I’m sure it’s not as funny now

You start out on a track… you are supposed to be the horse and rider but they kept showing the “horse” that you were supposed to be, yet we were still trotting in our seats (did I forget to mention that the seats moved!). The laughing started. Then there was, what was supposed to be dirt, flying at us but it looked like poop. Then the wind started…we were both laughing so hard that the tears were rolling down our cheeks or should I say flying back into our ears because the wind was so strong. My lord it was such a great day. I have some funny pictures that I honestly didn’t feel like editing now but will post them soon.

Right now I am in bed thinking about all the stuff I want to try and get done tomorrow. I left the kitchen a bit of a mess, which is usually unlike me, because I wanted to watch the Real Housewives of NJ instead… yes, yes addicted to reality TV.

All in all it was a great day, except for one little moment. My friend LorriAnn is leaving to stay with her daughter for a few months and then is moving on to South Carolina. I am so so excited for her. This is exactly what she needs and she has taken control of her own life and is doing what is best for HER… but I will miss her. She is part of my heart and will always be. I can only be sad in the fact that I won’t get to see her at work every Wednesday and Thursday nights now but I will be able to see the smiling pictures of her and her grandson. You know you truly love someone when you feel just as excited as they are when you know they made the right decision. When you pray at night that all the good things in the world would fall into their lap and when you give them that one last, last, last hug because you don’t want it to end.
LorriAnn I love you, but you know that. I will miss you, but you know that too. I hope that I can be half the woman that you are and impact a small portion of the lives that you did. I wish you nothing but wonderful, amazing things in this world and I can’t wait to hear all the stories about your new adventures. Drive safe and I will see you soon.
