I have become a lover of peaches. Don’t get me wrong, I love to eat peaches, ice cream and peaches, peach yogurt BUT I never really liked warm peaches….that is until I started cooking with them myself. I can’t stress enough how much more you appreciate food when you start to cook with it, or you grow it in your own garden. It’s an amazing thing and it is a great way to get kids involved in trying new things.
I promise you after you have this Peach Cobbler you will be addicted!
4 cups peeled, sliced peaches
2 cups sugar, divided
1/2 cup water
8 tablespoons butter
1 1/2 cups self-rising flour
1 1/2 cups milk
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
Combine your peaches, 1 cup sugar and water into a saucepan and mix well.
Put your butter in a 3-quart baking dish and place in oven to melt. Keep an eye on it as the butter will start to turn brown very quickly.
Mix remaining sugar, flour, and milk slowly to prevent it from clumping.
Pour mixture over melted butter. Do not stir. Carefully pour your fruit mixture on top keeping in mind that where you place the fruit is where it will cook. So make sure that you spread it out appropriately.
You batter will rise during baking so it will lovingly hug your peaches 🙂 Bake for 30 to 45 minutes.
The perfect companion for this peach cobbler is some homemade ice cream
