Upcycling Toddler Gap Sweatshirt

When my L was little (18 months) I bought her a GAP sweatshirt that I loved on her. It was very plain, just grey with GAP in pink. She outgrew it obviously and I set it aside as one of my favorite articles of clothing.

I forgot about it until I was going through things to sell or keep so we could clean out the attic. I came across it and realized that it was the perfect size for J. I love pink on boy’s but for some reason I didn’t really love this sweatshirt on him the way it was. I think it was because I could just see it as L’s sweatshirt when I put it on him.

So I decided to fix that… I took some Fabric medium and green paint. The ratio of the mixture is 2 parts paint to 1 part fabric medium.

I then pained the GAP green and let it dry overnight… and there you go! A brand new sweatshirt

The great thing about this is that you can really do it with anything. I don’t know why it didn’t hit me before now but at least I finally caught on to the smart idea :). I hope that some of you can use this to upcycle a few items that you may want to make more girly, or more for a boy. If so please send me a picture… I would love to see what you did!
